Team Arrow's Radio Control Arrow RL204
at Toronto Air Museum
Downsview, Ontario, Canada
The original rollout ceremony for the Arrow was 5 October 1957 with
the rollout of RL201.
Since 1998, volunteers have been building a full size, non-flying
replica of RL203.Its rollout was held 4 October for Toronto Aero
Museum members and former employees of Avro
As an added bonus which I did not know about until we showed up at the
museum was that there was going to be a flight with a radio controlled
model from Team Arrow. I got to talk to who would be flying the
model and he told me they were able to get permission to fly the model
for four flights over the three days while other groups in the past were
not able to obtain permission. I can just imagine the red tape they went
through, not to mention the strict rules of flight they had to follow. I
wish I had had my handheld so I could have listened to the tower and
model team. It would have came in handy when a low flying twin
entered the airspace during the model flight, probably to take an aerial
photo of the Arrow replica. For photos of the
Arrow
Replica click here. I will have to take some screen snaps of the
model flying from the video I took as I was concentrating on the video
camera (2nd time using it and first time trying to track a model!)
Click on the pictures below and they will open in a new browser window. To return to this
page, just close the new window down. Feel free to use the
pictures for personal archives and for school/youth projects. In return
please give credit to me for the photographs in your bibliography etc.
The pictures are in 800 x 600 pixels format in size and are compressed
from their original size and resolution.
