I have always had a passion for aircraft, in particular the aircraft flown by the Canadian military. For several years the Canadain Forces (RCAF) had a website that listed the aircraft and general information. Over the years their page changed locations and with each update, information was removed. A few years ago I decided that I would like to try and create a site that would highlight the aircraft, specifications, serial numbers, photos, and flight simulator files. (Little did I realize what a daunting task this would be!) Wish I had thought of this while I was still in the military and had opportunities to see aircraft up close.
Links for the aircraft will be given for information on my web site, the RCAF, and Wikipedia if available. Flightsim links are my flightsim pages.
In December 2013 I noticed that the RCAF (CF) individual web pages for some historical aircraft were no longer available. In February 2017, I noticed that the Canadian Wings website was also no longer available.
I started work on a searchable database that would cross reference serial numbers and provide information on aircraft that has been used by Canadian Military over the years. The starting point of the database is the website of
RWR Walker, who passed away. Fortunately his site was taken on by the Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum. The database has been online through them since December 2019. I am also using a variety of sources and as the aircraft operating history is entered, the source is provided.
With over 32,000 aircraft in the database, I realized that creating individual pages for each aircraft's history would be formidable, so rather than creating individual pages, I am using the database to display each aircraft's information. There will still be a page for each aircraft type, displaying specifications and listing of each serial number which will link to the database to show the operational history. Currently I am working in adding the histories of each aircraft into the database which will be included on the record page along with citations from where the info was obtained. In the meantime, if the history has not been added to the database, It will take you to RWR Walker's listing for the aircraft.
