Weiner repainted his No. 49 in black and white zebra stripes for 1967, making it the wildest of Mustangs. Horizontal stabilizer was clipped and wing chopped to 30. Bardahl had hopped up the engine. Qualified at 399.779 mph, took easy 2nd in finals. Exquisite aerial of E. D. Weiner and his P-51D Mustang over southern California coast. Parasite drag of zebra stripes add considerable drag at 400+ mph but is certainly attractive! Entire ship has butted skin joints filled and smoothed, high gloss finish. E. D. pulls all the power he feels wont blow engine apart, admits to well over 100 inches of manifold pressure. Hi Time has annuciator warning lights to display malfunctions. E. D. never looks into cockpit while racing unless light flashes.[Aerial Visuals] 1968 September 15 - 22: Raced as #49, named BARDAHL Miss. Weiner picked up the Bardahl sponship previously held by Chuck Lyford Competed at the National Championship Air Races, Reno, Nevada, United States, in the Unlimited class. The primary pilot was E. D. Weiner. Qualified in 4th place with an average speed of 360.42 mph. Raced in Heat 1. Finished in 2nd place with an average speed of 384.18 mph. Started the Championship race, but did not finish. In the championship race, race #49 was only able to complete five laps and dropped out with serious engine problems. [Aerial Visuals] 1969 September 14 - 21: Raced as #49, named BARDAHL Miss. This was the last appearance for E.D. Weiner at the Reno National Championships, Reno, Nevada, United States. Mr. Weiner had been ill, but he felt well enough to participate in the race. Competed at the National Championship Air Races in the Unlimited class. The primary pilot was E. D. Weiner. Qualified in 5th place with an average speed of 357.90 mph. Started Heat 1, but did not finish. Mr. Weiner participated in one heat race, but the strain was too much Mr. Weiners heart. He Iater died in a Reno hospital.
